Story|
Do you find beauty in the shadows and passion in the broodingly romantic? If so, we have similar inclinations and encourage you to join us as we let ourselves surrender to our deepest darkest fantasies. After all, as Emily Dickinson wrote, “the heart wants what it wants – or else it does not care”. To celebrate this liberating and lascivious sentiment, our master perfumer has created a seductive fragrance to capture your forbidden emotions – Coeur Noir.
The name of the scent is a homage to its tarry black heart-chord of labdanum, obtained from a species of Mediterranean rockrose. Rich, resinous, round and warm, this is a fragrance that affects the wearer at the deepest level. The aroma is erotic yet deeply grounding and has been used in meditative and spiritual practices for millennia. The Egyptians believed labdanum’s divine scent could even please the gods and evoke favour and protection.
However, as Coeur Noir’s dark heart reveals itself to us fully, we will also encounter woody, balsamic and slightly smoky notes courtesy of benzoin, traditionally harvested from Styrax trees, while we receive piquant and simulating energy from black pepper. To further balance our luscious middle chord, we have added a base note of sweet, creamy Madagascan vanilla as a luxurious and addictive finale. Prized, not only for its soothing but also aphrodisiac properties, it ties all the components together into an arousing harmony.
So let your dark heart want what it wants and embark on an unforgettable love affair with this mischievous scent. Coeur Noir will serve as the perfect olfactory backdrop and linger deliciously on your skin, just like the scent of that mysterious lover after they have left your bed but still linger in your mind.
